Although the precise origins of the classical guitar are open to debate, there is plenty of evidence of the existence of similar instruments dating back as early as 5000 years ago. The idea of a hollow body with tensed strings anchored between two points is seen in many instruments, including the violin family, sitar, piano and harp; they all use the strings vibrations to resonate the body and produce sounds. However, because the guitar is fretted, it allows pitch-perfect chords to be played over six strings, which differentiates it from the unfretted (and often bowed) violin family. The guitar as we know it today started to take shape during the Renaissance and Baroque period, when it was used mainly as an accompaniment. Cousins of the guitar are the mandolin, balalaika, banjo and lute. There are enough similarities between these instruments to relate them all, but to give a guitar a unique definition, it would be a six-string, fretted instrument tuned between low E (a thirteenth below Middle C) and the E two octaves above. Of course these are merely the open-string tunings. Notes approaching two octaves above this are achievable through fretting. This tuning allows the guitars whole range to be represented on the treble clef, albeit with three ledger lines for the lowest notes.

The Lost Art Of Hand Candle Crafting
I am from Missouri. The state suprises me the more I explore her. Tonight I am staying in a hotel in Branson, Missouri. Many of you are probably familiar with the city, I am not. Evidentally I was here at the age of 5,… but to be honest, if I can remember something that happened 10 years ago, I am doing pretty good… let alone 27 years ago!
Anyway, enough rambling about my memory condition.
Many folks have visited Silver Dollar City. For those of you that don’t know, SDC is a theme park modeled after the way of life in the hills of the Ozarks. The visitor will witness many craftsmen / craftswomen, one of these are the old-tyme (purposely mispelled) chandlers.
You may see an old man with a long white beard dipping wickes in a vat of wax heated by a fire. To someone who has been making candles for several years, this was an incredible sight. Obviously to the average candle burner, not to great of a spectacle unless that casual candle user has not idea how candles are made… in large factories in China.
Seriously though,… a lot of work goes into hand made candles. Of course many candle companies are born out of a basements, garages, spare rooms, and kitchens. Back in the olde (purposely mispelled) days, convieniences were a rarity. Candle distributers where unheard of, and they definately couldn’t import candles made in foreign countries buy the container full!
The wax was heated over fire… someone manually dipped the wicks. A lot of work, compared to today’s standards, went into making a candle!
Ok… by now you are asking me to get to the point. Next time you purchase a candle or candles (soy or paraffin), do you local chandler a favor and try a truly handmade / hand-dipped candle and check out the difference. Not only the way it looks, but the way it burns, how long it burns, and how it smells. You might be suprised, and you may change your preference in candle purchasing. The subtle differences in the wax alone will amaze you!
Your local chandler puts a lot of time, effort, and love into the candles they hand make. They take pride in their product. They are forced to produce a super high quality product to stay competitive in the marketplace. Sure, they may cost a little more, but as they say in the hills of the ozarks, “Ya pay fer what ya git!”

Brochuriffic Printing
Tradeshow, real estate listing, data sheet, new product promotions and the likes will never be complete without promoting them via brochures. Perhaps, brochure has its own way of wowing the public and persuading them to participate, purchase or subscribe.
But the most bothersome aspect is the budget. How will you make your brochures look terrific yet inexpensive?
There are various brochure printing.processes available these days. The first is the two-color brochure printing. As the name implies, it only uses two colors. Most often it comes in black and white or a monochrome of a color. This is the cheapest kind of printing process for brochures. However, this may not be applicable to all designs. Some may appear classic, some may appear dull and lifeless.
Another process is the 4 color brochures printing. Most of the catchy brochures we have these days are printed in this process. 4 color brochures printing uses CMYK colors. These are cyan, magenta, yellow and black. These colors are used to create other colors that will complement the colors in your design. There are computer software programs that convert any text or image to CMYK. In this manner, it will be easy for the printers to work on your brochure printing needs.
Colors can be a little tricky especially when you see them on your computer monitor. Computer screens use RGB color. Red, green and red colors will result to different colors than those created through the CMYK process. In fact, if you print your brochure on an inkjet or laser printer, the result will be far different from that printed through 4 color printing.
One of the main highlights why lots of people are choosing 4 color printing is that the inking or mixing process is computer-controlled. Moreover, they are getting consistent colors all throughout the printing job. Plus they are getting it at a competent price. These are probably the reasons why 4 color brochure printing is the most popular choice among savvy entrepreneurs.
6 color printing is also a good choice. This process uses 6 colors to create more colors than the usual printing process. The drawback though is that this process may not be good to your resources.
If you want an exact color match for your brochures, go for pantone colors. Colors are meticulously mixed in order to come up with the exact color. Thousands of colors are available through pantone. There are books showing them. All you have to do is to choose from them. Let your imagination soar, chances are the colors in your mind can be achieved through pantone. The drawback though is that it is costly.
Now you have choices. Its up to you how you can optimize them.
Can’t Find Your One True Path?
So you’re trying to figure out what you’re going to be when you grow up. The problem is you’re 38, have two grown children and a husband, not to mention two cats and a dog named Sirius Black Dixon. Oh, wait, sorry, I guess I got distracted and thought we were talking about me.
Back to you. You’re physically “grown,” but you haven’t found your “one true path.” You dont know yet what youre going to do with your life, and youre feeling lost, confused, and worried.
Okay, let’s start with the brutal truth here. If you have spent a lot of time, effort and creative energy looking for your one true path, I have bad news.
You probably don’t have one.
You see, people who have one true paths know they do and they know what they are. This is not always true. Nothing is always true. But in general, people who home in on one career do it early and stick with it, or if they change careers, they do it in a reasoned, considered way.
People like us, who stumble and bumble and jumble from one thing to another to another to another, we don’t have one true path. We have something. Its just not one true path.
That’s the good news. Because what we have, boy is it better.
We have multiple paths. They fit our multiple passions and our multiple talents and our multitasking personalities.
You and I? We can be whatever we want. For as long as we want. And then go do something else. We can be writers, and while were being writers, or when were done being writers, we can be teachers, or driving instructors. Now, admittedly, were not going to be astrophysicists or CEOs of major companies. But most of us dont want that. What we can be is just about anything we want to be and just about everything.
Don’t you feel liberated?

Can Health Savings Accounts Bring Down High Healthcare Costs?
More and more people now have the opportunity to choose Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) over other, more traditional, health insurance coverage more companies and financial institutions offer this option than ever before. For the healthcare consumer, this is good news. When the community as a whole is given more choice when it comes to healthcare options, everyone benefits. HSAs let you decide how to manage your own medical needs and work out a financial plan that works best for your specific circumstances.
An added advantage of Health Savings Accounts is the prospect of lowering the nations rising healthcare costs, and making the price of medical care more affordable for everyone. But how can revamping the current health insurance system affect healthcare from a financial standpoint? More to the point, how can a different kind of health insurance make it easier for most people to pay for required medical expenses?
In 2003 the Medicare Modernization Act introduced the concept of HSAs to the American public for the first time. A Health Savings Account is meant to encourage people to invest in their own healthcare through personal savings, and reduce health care costs at the same time; a revolutionary idea that has the potential to be the starting point for positive changes in healthcare. Health Savings Accounts have sparked a lot of debate amongst those who believe in the idea and those who are wary of its ability to change the face of healthcare as we know it.
When you get down to the fundamentals, HSAs are truly designed to improve healthcare and make it accessible to the vast majority of people. For the individual, HSAs make it easier to pay for medical expenses when they arise. Coupled with a high-deductible health insurance policy, a Health Savings Account allows you to save pre-tax money and earn interest tax-free. This allows you to have money set aside to cover a whole host of medical bills, including items that arent necessarily covered by traditional insurance plans, such as dental expenses or alternative treatments. Individuals and employers can deposit up to $2700 per person and up to $5450 for a family, and any time you need to withdraw any amount to pay for qualified healthcare costs, you can do so tax-free. In addition, premiums for high-deductible insurance policies can be as little as half the amount of traditional PPO policies.
And because a Health Savings Account is tied to an insurance policy, more expensive treatments are covered, usually 100%, after youve met your deductible. When you turn 65, any savings remaining in the account can be withdrawn tax-free to be used for medical expenses you incur in your senior years. In addition, the savings you accumulate in a HSA work like a retirement fund. The money grows tax-deferred like an IRA, and you can withdraw the money after age 65 to pay for non-medical expenses without penalty, although you will be required to pay taxes. It is important to note, however, that amounts withdrawn prior to age 65 are subject to penalties and taxes.
Giving the individual more consumer power when making healthcare decisions not only helps you and your family save money, but also creates an environment in which healthcare costs in general become more reasonably priced. Essentially, the price of healthcare is so high because free market forces have little sway in the realm of healthcare products and services. Insurance coverage causes a disconnection between the consumer and the item purchased. When you visit the doctor or purchase a prescription from the pharmacist, you dont know the real price tag. All you see is your insurance payment and the price you pay at the cash register, after your insurance company pays the balance.
This lack of price transparency has led to less competition within the marketplace. People have traditionally chosen their doctors, health products, and other medical items based on location, convenience, or other factors not related to price. When people have the choice to compare different health care providers based on quality of service and price, soon overpriced healthcare will become a thing of the past. People will shop around and force providers to price healthcare more competitively.
As more and more people turn to Health Savings Accounts, medical providers will feel the pressure to post their prices and compete for the consumer’s business. Armed with the knowledge of what healthcare actually costs, individuals and families will be less willing to overuse the system, which also drives up prices. (When healthcare appears to cost little or nothing, most people are prone to make use of services even though it may be unnecessary).
At the same time, HSAs naturally promote the use of preventive care. When people understand the true costs associated with healthcare, they will be willing to pay a little more up front to keep their engine running smoothly rather than pay a lot more at a later date to fix a problem they could have avoided.
Health Savings Accounts have also put affordable healthcare within reach for more people, who were previously paying medical expenses out-of-pocket due to inadequate or non-existent insurance coverage. The low premiums of a high-deductible HSA plan together with the option of putting your money in a savings account that earns interest has already encouraged large numbers of people who previously went without coverage to purchase a health insurance plan.
Only time will tell whether or not Health Savings Accounts can drive down skyrocketing healthcare costs, but the system created by such accounts, which affords the individual more freedom to control his or her own financial and medical destiny, bodes well for the future of healthcare in America.
Online Temptation Blocker
Copyright 2006 Jim Edwards
One of the best things about doing business online involves the fact that with a computer and Internet connection you can do just about anything you want.
One of the worst things about doing business online involves the fact that with a computer and Internet connection you can do just about anything you want.
In a business context, computers and Internet access represent the ultimate double-edged sword that requires discipline and self-control when it comes to the endless possibilities of how to spend your time.
Now, for all of us who fall into the category of needing a tad more will-power to stay on task, help arrives in the form of a free software app for PC called “Temptation Blocker.”
Originally developed to help the software’s author avoid playing “Half Life 2″ (a great game, by the way) while under pressure to meet a critical deadline for his work, “Temptation Blocker” operates with a very simple purpose.
He knew that if he could just let the sane part of himself set limits, he would head off the game playing in moments of weakness later on during the day.
Now, for the rest of us who need a little help avoiding temptation throughout the day, we can use this same program in a variety of ways.
The software comes free of charge for PC users (sorry, no MAC version at this time) by logging on to http://thenetreporter.com/temptation-blocker.html
Download the software and follow the simple installation steps and then restart your computer.
Once the software installs, you start it up and see a list of the programs in your computer’s Start Menu.
You can check off the ones you want to block, tell it how long to block them, and then get to work.
If you ever give in to temptation and try to start the blocked programs, a dialogue box pops up telling you how much longer until the programs are available again.
If the program you wish to block doesn’t show up in the list, you can browse for it and add it to the program list.
If it lists programs you know you’ll never want to block, you can right mouse click them and remove them individually from the list.
You can then create profiles to block specific programs based on the job you need to get done.
* The Email Addict *
I admit it: I’m addicted to email.
I’ve developed a compulsion to click the “Send/Receive” button on my Mail Washer software at least every 5-10 minutes throughout the day.
Not only does it distract me to run down at least a half- dozen rabbit-holes daily, but it also adds greatly to my overall stress level.
By blocking access to my email program, I’m actually weaning myself out of the habit of constantly checking email every few minutes and reclaiming valuable time.
* Get Work Done! *
No matter what deadline you face, by blocking those programs which tempt you to sidetrack and waste time, you’ll actually get more time to enjoy them!
Instead of fragmenting your time into inefficient bits, you can concentrate on one task at a time, get it completed, and then do whatever you want with the extra free time – and do it with a guilt-free conscience.
Preparing For Windows Vista
So what exactly is Windows Vista?
Windows Vista is the next major operating system release from Microsoft. This highly anticipated release not only has many new and exciting features but Microsoft have also improved the graphical user interface and given it a new visual style. Windows Vista, which is due to be released to the business sector in November this year, sports hundreds of new features, many of which are designed for use within the business environment.
Why should I care?
Windows Vista brings many benefits to small, medium and large organizations. New features such as Desktop Search and the Windows Explorer improvements make finding and using information easier and quicker than ever before. It is stated that over 30% of an employees day is spent trying to find information – these new tools will help to reduce that figure and increase productivity within your company.
As we move into an ever increasing mobile age it is becoming more important for employees to be mobile enabled. The Sync Centre feature of Windows Vista is at the heart of Microsofts desktop / mobile technologies. This application eases the pain of mobile device synchronization and ensures the whole process is completed securely enabling users to have a consistent view whether they are in or out of the office.
Windows Vista also has many new security features that will aid in defending against the vast number of security threats that are present today on the Internet. With improved Windows Firewall and Windows Defender technologies, defending against spyware and unauthorized access is transparent. User Account Control, which protects against admin users inadvertently changing settings, ensures that any malware or virus that get onto your system cannot change any settings without you first agreeing to it. There are many other security features including granular auditing/logging, improved security update tools and full disk drive encryption – all of which combine to create the most secure Windows ever.
What should I do to ensure a smooth transition?
1. Windows Vista requires almost 4 times the processing power as Windows XP so it is important to know that your hardware is up to the task. In order to ascertain this produce an asset report on all of your desktop machines. This should detail processor type and speed, the physical size of memory and hard disk(s), the type of graphics card installed and the amount of graphics memory it has.
2. Microsoft are going to release 6 different versions of the operating system so it is therefore important to decide which version meets your business needs.
3. Understand what machines will be compatible with Windows Vista and what machines will need to be upgraded or replaced.
4. Produce a report detailing all software applications that are used throughout the business. This report should detail the product name and version.
5. Understand any compatibility issues between your installed software and Windows Vista.
6. Ensure that your users know how to use the features in Windows Vista that will improve both productivity and ensure security/reliability.
The next steps
With the launch of Windows Vista only a few months away, it is important that you take action now. If you follow the steps outlined above, you will ensure that your transition to Vista is smooth and ensure that your business remains productive, reliable and secure.
Fashion – Today`s Colour In Fashion Will It Suit Your Complexion
Fashion – Why do women and beauty products work well together, the answer to that is quite simple, cosmetics make you look beautiful and women want to be beautiful so there you have it – a match made in heaven – the perfect duo
Today`s fashion and latest shades in lipstick is no guarantee to looking beautiful if you are not feeling good about yourself.
It`s a funny old world – the fashion world. Take those glamour models that grace the catwalk with the latest in fashion design – only to go and mess the entire look of the whole outfit with an expression of depression along with a ridiculous unbalanced walk like that of a woman who has just downed 10 pints of lager – now where is the beauty in that I ask you.
Remember never to imitate the pose of a model on a night out with friends because that friendship may just cease and heaven forbid if you are looking for a date with the opposite sex – then the chances of that happening are zilch. If you want to impress then it is all down to how you dress. You will always be at your best if you feel good. A smile radiates beauty so regardless of what the fashion it is you adorn – be sure to smile and that is half of the battle won in feeling good and looking beautiful
Why is it you wear the same colours when you go out? Why is it you feel that a certain colour is not ideally suited to your complexion even though it is in fashion? Well now is the time to change all that. Todays fashionable colours are just oozing to expel your beauty within. Positive results are guaranteed after you have boosted your confidence into looking beautiful with the latest in fashion styles and colours.
For example if you are not partial to the colour green or orange up next to the skin, well that is fine, but, at the time you decided this colour was not for you, did you ever give it a minutes thought that it was just that particular shade of green that you were not comfortable with. Remember there are 40 shades of green, now do you get my drift. Now as for orange – a colour that does need to be given much thought behind for a person`s skin tone – but if you like orange then dress it up with accessories to compliment the shade itself – this will work wonders.
Just by changing the shade of one particular colour and style of dress can be the start of finding the real beauty within. Your inner beauty may have lain static for far to long all because you took for granted that the first bright lime green luminous blouse you ever tried on was not for you, therefore leaving you resisting future fashion garments in green, But did you ever consider replacing that lime green blouse for pretty cowl neck musky jade shade.. Also a change of hairstyle can alter your whole image along with the colour that you banished from the wardrobe.
It is sad – but there are many women who are confused and believe that a certain colour does them no justice – when at the end of the day it may have been their choice in the shade.
Five Things To Reach For Instead Of A Snack
We all do it. When we’re bored, lonely, frustrated, uncomfortable – just about any negative feeling at all – we reach for a snack. It may be habit, it may be ‘socially acceptable’ or it may be the result of years of conditioning, but there it is. We’ve grown to equate food with comfort. There are some situations that are more likely to provoke us to reach for a snack – can you watch a movie without popcorn, for instance? Recognizing some of them in advance and heading them off can take a little planning, but you CAN reprogram the conditioning that has you reaching for a candy bar when someone hurts your feelings. Here are five situations that almost scream for a snack – and things you can do instead.
Instead of popcorn at the movies, reach for your date’s hand. He’ll never guess that you’re holding his hand to keep yours out of the popcorn.
Always reach for a bag of chips midmorning at your desk? Your body does need a mid-morning pick-me-up to keep you going, but chips aren’t the way to go. Instead of a walk to the candy machine, grab the mail and walk to the post office, or take a walk to the copy machine. A brisk walk does wonders for your energy level, and if you can get outside thats all the better.
Can’t watch television in the evening without snacking on whatever’s handy? Give your hands something to do. Take up knitting or crocheting. It can keep your hands to busy to dip into the snack bowl. Added bonus? A new sweater, afghan or a very special gift for a favorite niece.
What’s a carnival without fried dough? Less fattening! Instead of the cotton candy and popcorn, reach for more fun. Head for the nearest ride you’ve been afraid to climb aboard.
Are late-night snacks your downfall? If you find yourself craving food in the middle of the night when no one else is around, you may just need a little company. Try an online game or chat room to keep your mind busy till you’re sleepy enough to head for bed.
Do you reach for a candy bar or the tub of ice cream when you’re feeling hurt or angry? Instead, reach for the DVDs. Pull out your favorite tear-jerker and have yourself a good cry. Even better – instead of sublimating, face your anger. Reach for a pen and write a nasty letter, or spill it all to your LJ.
Finally, don’t forget that sometimes, when your body wants a snack it’s because it needs a snack. Keep a variety of healthy snack foods around so that when the cravings hit, you can fill up on something healthy.
Professional Help with Your Computer May Be Cheaper Than You Think
We all deal with them, those little computer problems that arent quite big enough to warrant a call to the Computer Guy. You know, like every once in a while your camera wont transfer its pictures the right way. Or like the times when all of a sudden your computer shuts down for no apparent reason and with no warning whatsoever. Dont forget those odd Run Time Errors with the crazy numbers in them. I love those.
The worst part is, you could probably fix some of these things yourself if you just had a little help or guidance. Calling a professional, while sometimes necessary, can be both a greater inconvenience and of course a greater cost. It may take forever to contact them, and when you do get in touch with the help desk, they always make you reboot the thing twelve times before you get any real advice.
Let me be clear on a couple things before we continue. First, I am a professional computer technician and have been working in the industry for over 15 years. There are numerous occasions where a professional is needed to help with or repair your PC. It is often my advice to have your system evaluated at least one every three months. On top of that, there are many things a novice should not try on their PC for fear of causing more harm than good. Not everything is this way though.
Ive said it before and Ill say it again. Your best way to help maintain your computer is by staying informed and educated. Im not suggesting everyone run out and get a Computer Science degree, but I am suggesting you use some of the top notch free resources that are available to you. The largest these days is of course the internet.
Dont get nervous yet, Im not suggesting you look up some super hi-tech article and study it until you know it inside and out. You dont have to. The net is full of people who already understand these things and are more than willing to pass some of that understanding on to you. They do this in forums.
Forums are a wonderful thing. A lot of forums are actual cyber communities of people who love to talk about various topics. They have people of varying skill sets, all interacting in a friendly supportive way. I know theres a free computer support forum out there with people in it just waiting to answer some of your questions.
So next time those pop ups are driving you crazy, and you cant reach your favorite help desk, stop by a computer support forum. Youll be surprised at how good an experience it can be.

Asthma A Respiratory Disorder
Asthma is a respiratory disorder characterized by frequent wheezing, labored breathing, sense of chest congestion and frequent attacks of coughing and gasping. It is a disease of the respiratory system in which the airways narrow down often in response to a trigger meaning exposure to cold air, exercise, allergen or emotional stress. These symptoms of asthma can range from mild to life threatening and can be controlled by drugs and separate lifestyle changes.
This disorder is a chronic inflammatory condition in which the airways develop increased responsiveness to various stimuli and are characterized typically by bronchial hyper-responsiveness, increased mucus production, intermittent airway obstruction and frequent inflammation.
Diagnosis of asthma
If you are suffering from any of these symptoms you should visit the physician for proper diagnosis. Asthma is strongly suspected if a patient suffers from eczema or several other allergic conditions and already has a family history of asthma.
However diagnosis of asthma involves the following factors:
In children it begins with developed breathing problems, history of nasal stiffness [rhinitis], itchy eyes [allergic conjunctivitis] and eczema.
For adults it involves listening to the lungs with stethoscope and examination of nasal passages.
Blood tests and sputum studies are also great ways to diagnosis for asthma.
Spirometry is breathing test, which measures the amount, and rate at which air can pass through airways.
Exercise challenge tests and metacholine inhalation tests are also great procedures to evaluate airway responsiveness.
Asthma and pregnancy
Asthmatic women can face serious problem during pregnancy. If they do not take proper care, asthma can attack both the mother as well as the fetus inside the mother. Therefore uncontrolled asthma in pregnant women often lead to complications like premature birth, low birth weight and maternal blood pressure changes.
Following are brief ways pregnant women can take care of their asthma:
The expectant mother should remain active and sleeping throughout the night.
Pregnant women with asthma should do some regular exercises under the supervision of their physicians.
The pregnant mother should avoid medications like iodides, aspirin or ASA products, tetracycline, sulfonamides and antihistamines.
Treatments for asthma
Asthma can be treated with two types of medicines that include quick-relief medicines and long-term control medicines. While quick relief medicines should be taken during the first signs of asthma, the long-term medicines are taken every day usually over long periods of time to prevent symptoms and asthma attacks.
Following are the various treatments for asthma:
Children with moderate or severe asthma should know to use a peak flow meter to help keep asthma under control.
Medicines are the best treatments along with inhalers. However, medicines like beta-blockers used for treating high blood pressure and glaucoma, nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs and aspirin should be avoided.
Regular physical activity is important to reduce asthma.
You should manage your asthma to remain fit and healthy in life.
The Latest Patent Applications: Kernel Of Technological Advancement
The value of freedom in a country is priceless. If one country has freedom of speech and thought then they are sure to have a bright future ahead of them. How so? If a society has freedom of thought then they are free to explore their interests or whatever else that may pique their curiosity, which could eventually lead them to great knowledge and amazing discoveries.
Take the United States for example. America has surpasses all the other countries of the world not only economically but technologically as well. Although it is true that most technological inventions and other scientific discoveries did not really originated from the Americans themselves but rather are attributed to citizens of other countries. However, it is undeniable that these technological inventions are enhanced and further developed in America. Thanks to Americas innovative patent system these technological inventions are put to better use.
Just what is a patent you asked? The term patent is generally defined as a set of exclusive rights granted by the government to a person for a certain period of time (usually for 20 years) in return for the regulated, public disclosure of some information about their invention. It was Thomas Jefferson who initiated the first national patent system in the United States of America during the year 1790. From then on, this exclusive right has been protecting the inventors interest by preventing other people from copying, using or selling the already claimed invention.
So how exactly are these patents significant in technological advancement? According to the World Intellectual Property Organization or WIPO about 90% to 95% of all the worlds inventions can be found in patented documents. However, these technological inventions comprise only a small percentage of all the patents that are applied for and granted. Therefore it is safe to assume that the latest patent applications are the kernel of technological advancement.
Take a look closer at the Internet. This technology has undergone numerous changes from the time that the concept of the World Wide Web was first introduced a few decades back. In an attempt to put Internet into better use, various inventors who aim to further develop and enhance the existing models filed numerous patent applications that are related to this technology.
One of the latest patent applications is called system and method for scoping searches using index keys. The invention involves a set of index keys, which is to be included in an index search system that are related with the scope of the search instead of the content of the documents, which are the target of the search. These so-called scope keys enables the scope of the search to be customized, thus reducing the number of documents that a search supposed to sort through in order to acquire the results.
Another latest patent application that is related to technological advancement in the Internet is the system and method for performing a search and a browse on a query. Now, in this invention a search and a browse on a single user query is executed. Then a refined query is chosen from the results of the first user query. After that, a list of concepts from a first directory that are related with the refined query is acquired.
Here, the concepts are categorized in a hierarchical relationship. Concepts with broader scope are obtains a higher position. Meanwhile, the concepts with narrower scope get a lower position in the hierarchy. In addition, a list of web sites that related with the search concept is also acquired from a second directory.
The forming intent-based clusters and employing same by search, is also a patent application that is related in further enhancing the Internet. This patent application is associated to a system and method that will be use for identifying and forming intent-based clusters based on search requests that were sent by the users to the search engines, as well as to the search engine utilizing the formed intent-based clusters to answer the search requests made by the users. To be more precise, the invention is associated to recognizing and utilizing intent-based clusters so that a search made by a user with similar intent may receive a respond more quickly and efficiently. Most importantly, with search results that more directed to the search of the user.
All three patent applications are dedicated in making the Internet searching process less complicated and not to mention, much more efficient in terms of coming up with results.
Today, patents are considered as the leading source of technological information that is vital in technological advancement. Thanks to the innovative Information Technology industry, particularly to the Internet, the general public can now easily access these constructive documents. Just about anyone who is familiar with the Internet can browse through different patent databases available and obtain the specific patent document that they needed.
There are various patent databases that are accessible by the public, USPTO, EPO, JPO, to name just a few. For instance, if you are looking for patents that are related to a certain technological area you will find countless information regarding the entire process of technological innovation, such as the evolutionary path of a specific technology, its technological development, technological diversification, technology merges, as well as the major players in specific technological area, and the key points of the specific technology.
The secret behind each major technological advancement and inventions are thousands of patents that were applied, filed and then put it into practical use. Fortunately for us the public are well aware of the significance of patent application in developing tomorrows technology. The number of patent applications is growing at an enormously fast rate. Inventors not only from America but from other countries as well, are diligently working on their inventions as well as on patenting their ideas — a clear indication that our nations future is indeed in good hands. For as long as the American government continues to nurture innovation, then they will remain as global leaders both in economy as well as technology.
A Structured Settlement Nightmare: Don’t Let This Happen To You.
Accidents happen. Medical malpractice, while difficult to accept, happens. These are just a couple of instances where forces beyond your control can turn your life upside down and change it forever. Unfortunately, it happens every day. Now, it may be that you can’t control these occurrences, but there is a legal system in place that can help you lessen the burden of these events in the coming years. If you are the victim of someone else’s negligence get a qualified attorney and go to court. The result should be a a “Structured Settlement” that will pay you on a defined schedule over the course of the agreement.
This structured settlement comes in the form of an annuity that a defendant purchases to make the payments due to you. You may ask, “Why can’t I get the amount I am awarded in court in one lump sum?”. Depending on where you live that may be an option, though more and more states are requiring that structured settlements be used.
The reason for this is to protect you as the person getting the money from spending the money in a careless manner that jeopardizes you future financial well being.
Let’s look at a real life example.
In 1973, Tiffany Adams was born in Memphis with severe brain damage that her parents blamed on her doctor. They sued for malpractice and received a cash settlement of $250,000 in one lump sum.
The family’s attorney recommended investing the money to create an income that would help take care of Tiffany over the course of her life.
Well, as this is not a success story, you can see where this is going.
Tiffany’s parents wastefully put the money in to the father’s business. In a little over 10 years the money to care for Tiffany’s was gone.
A few years later the parents divorced and Tiffany receives no child support. If that wasn’t bad enough, in 1987 Tiffany was in an accident with her wheelchair that caused severe facial injuries. The family won a new settlement from the wheelchair company.
This time, however, Tiffany’s mother insisted on a structured settlement for the payments. This allows Tiffany’s mother to take care of her daughter without the fear of having someone take advantage of her settlement.
Accidents and malpractice are things you can not control. What you do, however, with the settlement money you receive is something you can.
Be prepared and be informed.
Protect you and your family by finding out more about structured settlements and structured settlement annuities.

Insider Tips To Horse Properties
Buying horse properties, especially your own horse is similar to buying a dog except that this pet can be very expensive. Quality horses aren’t cheap. If youre in the market for a horse, you might be checking out newspaper ads, equine forums on the Internet, your states agricultural bulletin, notices on tack and feed stores or livestock auctions all in search of a good horse at a good price. Depending on the animals breeding, health, age, size and ability, a recreational riding horse can cost anywhere from several hundred dollars to many thousands. The purchasing cost of the animal, however, is just the start. Julie Lucas, a horse veterinarian comments that often enough, the cost of the horse is insignificant or rather small when put together with the cost of its care and upkeep. Needless to say, procuring horses makes for a big financial step so careful planning and preparation must taken to avoid buying less than quality horses.
Horse owners generally agree that it is better to buy horses from people who have been in the business for long. If you found a prospective dealer in horse properties like a farm or ranch owner, research about the owner and the establishment. Find out who their past clients are, and if you’re willing to take the extra step, contact them and ask if they are satisfied with horse the ranch sold them. This is a better way to know your dealer rather than from brochures or Internet sites. It is also advised to buy your horse from large farms with a large selection of horses. People operating large ranches are experts in matching the need of prospective buyers to suitable horses (i.e. work horses, racing horses, show horses). Buying horses from small farms and individual owners are discouraged because they are usually just looking for opportunities to rid themselves of a problem horse. You might just end up buying another person’s problem.
If you have a trainer, include him in the purchasing process. He knows your skills and can match them realistically with the suitable horse. Dealers or owners of horse properties will just match your needs, not your skill level. They can also gauge the horse’s capabilities. It also helps to have realistic goals and expectations. In short, don’t expect a show horse to last doing farm work, or a farm horse to perform beautifully in a competition. Your trainer can advise you on how long a horse needs to be trained before it can be expected to do perform well.
Of course, horses are only as good as their riders. Practice riding your horse especially if you’re switching breeds. Your investment in horse properties will only be wasted if you can’t ride your horse. It is important to be consistent and authoritative. Horses are instinctively herders, they follow the head of the herd. Make sure that your horse understands that between the two of you, you intend to be the leader. It’s no good getting a horse if it constantly throws you to the ground at mid-gallop.
Truth – Just How Does One Know?
It breaks my heart to see people seeking the truth in man and not having that one on one relationship with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, bless His heart and soul. The great thing about receiving the truth from the Blessed Trinity is that you experience it and see it. With man, all you might gain is some knowledge provided whom you are receiving it from knows truth. How can one discern what’s truth and what’s untruth? John 14:15-17 tells us that Jesus will ask God on our behalf to give us the spirit of truth provided we are ready. We can only be ready when we can keep those two commandments.
Shaking the Blues of Depression
uppose you are feeling lonely. You notice you do not have an intimate relationship, and that makes you feel lonely. But is it the absence of the relationship that makes you feel lonely? Or do you feel lonely when you pay extra attention to the fact that you do not have the relationship you desire. When you are engrossed in a really good movie or a compelling book, you completely forget that you are lonely. But if you stick your head up and notice you are all alone, or if you notice a happy couple and it is the opposite of your own situation, then your loneliness quickly returns and you feel depressed. The word ‘depressed’ is a very common, everyday word. Almost all of us feel depressed. The ups and downs of life are common and normal and most people can recover quite quickly in dealing with depression…but some are not as fortunate.
Cleansing Diets
One of the most common cleansing diets is a detox diet. This is a diet that will release the toxins in the body that have been stored in the fat cells and will allow the body to excrete them and cleanse your body.
Why use a cleansing diet? This is used to eliminate toxins and other contaminants from the body. The main purposes of doing this is to:
Improve health
Feel more energetic
Improve immunity
Improve your mental condition
Aid in digestion
Help with weight loss
There are various ways to do this.
You can do a complete fast. This would entail not eating or drinking at all.
Just drink water. This would be not eating or drinking anything but water.
Just drink water and juice-the same as above accept you would be adding juice.
Eat certain foods-some diets will consist of just vegetables and fruits others will be just liquids. There are many variations on this.
Use herbs: Herbal cleansing has been used since ancient times. Certain herbs are used as cleansing medicines to release and excrete toxins from the body.
Reduce calories: Some cleansing diets are used to reduce calories and aid in weight loss.
The most common diet is one composed mainly of fruits and vegetables. Preferably these should be raw, unmodified and unprocessed. More water is recommended and complete absence of alchahol.
However cleansing diets are not without side effects. If done rapidly the toxins can be released into the bloodstream more quickly than the body can get rid of them. This condition is known as Herxheimer reaction.
This can result in:
Headaches
Muscle pain
Weakness
Insomnia
Irritability
Herxheimer reaction: this is the name given to the bodys condition when detoxification is occurring too rapidly and the body is not being given enough time to excrete the toxins. Some detox diets will produce this effect. This often leads to people abandoning their cleansing diets thinking that the diet is making them more sick. In actual fact if they continue with their diet the symptoms diminish and they will feel healthier.
Here are some ways that people have tried to lessen the symptoms of Herxheimer reaction:
Drinking as much pure water as they can-this in effect will help the body flush out any toxins.
Taking more exercise-this will improve circulation and help the body work more efficiently. This could help the body work more efficiently and excrete the toxins faster.
Getting more sunlight
Detox baths
Excessive sweating-with saunas, baths and use of herbs
Avoiding refined processed foods and toxic environmental chemicals
Aromatherapy oils are used to help aches and pains brought on by rapid detoxification
Cleansing diets have been used from ancient times and can often help you to improve your health and make you feel better. Some people do these diets on a regular basis others more seldom. However you want to do these diets you should exercise care and possibly consult your doctor before commencing on one as sometimes side effects can be severe. If you have any underlying disease especially metabolic ones such as diabetes then it is very necessary to consult your Doctor before trying any type of cleansing diets.
Curry – A Journey
Due to a childhood in the Middle East, I was practically brought up on curry. My first memories of it are eating curried goat in the fire station of Dubai airport in about 1962. My dad was the airport manager and the Chief Fire Officer and his family were our good friends and neighbours. The firemen cooked for our two families – fiery hot curry for the adults and a much milder version for us kids. Some of the men were of Arabic origins and some of Indian so I think the resulting meal was something of a mixture.
I remember we were offered chairs and cutlery but we preferred to sit on the floor and in the traditional manner, ate only with our right hands. This posed something of a problem for my mother as she was left-handed – she avoided making inexcusable gaffes by sitting on her left hand until the meal was over.
We learnt to roll rice into balls and with the aid of chapattis (wheat flour flatbreads), scooped up the curry and popped it into our mouths without making too much mess. I dont think I ate curry again in that way until many years later when I visited Goa and, at a spice plantation, was once again faced with banana leaf plates and fingers only. Bizarrely, in a nearby clearing, was a pink porcelain, pedestal hand basin with a hose pipe attached to the tap, fully supplied with soap and hand towels.
During those days of being expatriates in foreign lands, the British developed a liking for curry lunch on a Sunday. Doubtless this originated in India in the days of the Raj but still found its way to the Middle East and Africa. A group of friends would gather either at one of their houses or the local club. There would be beers or gins and tonics first (cola or fizzy orange for the kids). There wouldnt be a choice of curries, as I recall, it was always chicken and no matter where we ate it and it always tasted the same. The accompaniments didnt vary much either but we didnt mind. There would be poppadoms, mango chutney and a variety of sambals – chopped fruits and salad stuff which might include any or all of banana, pineapple, apple, tomato, cucumber, onion, desiccated coconut, peanuts and raisins or sultanas. With luck there would be chapattis too.
My next curry experiences were back in England. How different it all was. Indian restaurants furnished in red velvet with flocked wallpaper in gold. All sorts of different curries – not only the main ingredient but the mix of spices and flavourings. There were choices of plain or spicy poppadoms, different breads and vegetable curries and dahls as well, no sambals though! On the down side, these curries were often rather greasy and we always thought of them as being terribly fattening – naughty but oh so nice! The saviour, if conscience got the better of us was Tandoori-cooked meats. These were marinated in yoghurt and spice paste and cooked in a Tandoor (an earthenware charcoal oven), so were in effect grilled and much healthier.
Change again then when I finally visited India in 1988 and discovered that meat curries were the exception rather than the rule. Many Indians are vegetarians so paneer (similar to cottage cheese) is popular as are the many dishes made with pulses and vegetables. There was no trace of the greasiness found in restaurants in the UK and the flavours were quite different too.
This voyage of discovery culminated in a determination to learn how to reproduce Indian food in my own home but more of that in another article.

2006 Milwaukee Brewers Preview
2005 Overview:
The Milwaukee Brewers put together an impressive 2005 season posting a .500 record (81-81). Led by outfielders Carlos Lee (.265 32 114) and Geoff Jenkins (.292 25 86) the Brewers 2005 offense also received help from 1st baseman Lyle Overbay (.276 19 72) and Brady Clark (.306 13 53). Rickie Weeks (.239 13 42) and Bill Hall (.291 17 62) split time at second base while pitcher Chris Capuano (18 12 3.99) surprised many by posting 18 wins and pitching over 200 innings (219) for the first time in his young major leaguer career. Helping Capuano in the rotation were Ben Sheets (10 9 3.33) and Tomo Ohka (7 6 4.35) who was acquired midseason from the Washington Nationals. Newcomer closer Derrick Turnbow (7 1 1.74 39 saves) did very well posting a microscopic 0.90 ERA after the all star break.
Off Season Moves:
GM Doug Melvin continued to carefully build his team of youngsters for 2006. First on his list was trading first baseman Lyle Overbay in order to make room for newcomer Prince Fielder (.288 2 10). The organization is high on Fielders potential. The team also picked up starter Dave Bush (5-11 4.49), outfielder Gabe Gross (.250 1 7) and pitcher Zach Jackson, who was a former first round pick from the Blue Jays.
The Brewers also traded to get third baseman Corey Koskie (.249 11 36) in exchange for right hander Brian Wolfe. Melvin also sent pitcher Wes Obermueller to Atlanta to get back the Brewers’ former closer, Dan Kolb (3-8 5.93).
2006 Analysis:
The Brewers GM Doug Melvin continues to impress as he has assembled a team of young, aggressive players. Prince Fielder is expected to join Lee and Jenkins to form one of the more formidable lineups in the NL. The Brewers think so highly of Fielder they moved Overbay to make room for his immediate ascension.
The team hopes Bush will be a good pickup. The pitcher turned around a poor 0-5 start with the Blue Jays and did struggle in September as well, but the Brewers are hopeful a change in scenery will help him. The team’s starters ranked sixth in the NL with a 4.02 ERA last year and the staff should be improved. Expect Koskie to do well in his new uniform. His RBI totals in particular should increase with more consistent playing time.
The pitcher to watch will be Capuano. His 18 wins and 35 game starts really anchored the rotation in 2005. The Brewers are hoping he will become a legitimate ace to build their rotation around. The bullpen other then Turnbow is somewhat questionable. Kolb is familiar face and will help setup the closer but other then that there isnt much here to depend on. Turnbow posted a 3-0 record after the all star break and emerged as one of the more reliable closers in baseball. The Brewers are counting on him picking up where he left off in 2005. Brewer fans remain hopeful in 2006 as management continues to build a quality team.
Heater Problems, Eh?
Well, weve all encountered some sort of problem with our cars heater, and for some reason it always happens when the weather is cold. Youre thinking oh it’s cold outside, but all I have to do is walk from my home to my car. And Ill be warm and toasty in no time, but of course it doesnt always happen. But before you think about calling your mechanic you might be able to do the job yourself. Wouldnt that be great? You can save a little money and replace the heater right away.
Did you check the coolant, hoses and connections and did it all look fine? That would be the case more often then not. So whats the problem? Its likely that your Ford heater core has died. But if you go to your Ford dealer and ask for the price of a replacement heater core, the price can be shocking.
Fortunately for us, its not too hard to change it yourself. For many cars, a heater core can be pulled out of the dash or check under the hood next to the firewall, once you locate it just take it out and replace it with a new one. If you buy the part off the internet or someplace else, it can save you even more money, instead of making the purchase at your dealership.
For the most part, you can find any core heater for any type of vehicle you have on the internet. It can save you bundles.
So you dont have to wait until spring roles around and you dont have to think about the problem for a few months. There is no excuse for not replacing your core heater. You can replace it for a lot less yourself. There is no reason to be cold while youre driving in your car this winter.
